Geographically located near the center of the country, Cappadocia's unusual landscape was formed by a series of valcanic eruptions. Cappadocia is famous for its "fairy chimneys";cone shaped rocks sculpted by a history of wind erosion.
 

This natural phenomenon allowed Cappadocia to become a member of the UNESCO world patrimony.The name of the region ,"The land of beautiful horses" was coined by the Persians .

 
Climate
 

It is a semi-arid region. Summers are hot and sunny with cool nights. Visitors in winter have the opportunity to view the fairy chimneys blanketed in snow. Temperatures range from approximately -5c ın wınter to 36c ın summer.

 
Local Economy
 

The economy is sustained partially by agriculture consisting mostly of potatoes, wheat, barley, grapes, pumpkins, apples and apricots. Animal husbandry focuses on sheep, goats and cattle. Tourism has been a growing industry recently and is the mainstay of the local economy.

Uçhisar
 

Small genuine village, situated at 1260 altitude meters, Uçhisar is overwhelming the astonishing scenery of the fairy chimneys 's area. Uçhisar is 270 kms away ( south east part) from the capital Ankara, 750 kms from Istanbul and 9 kms from Nevshehir ( the administrative prefecture of Cappadocia).

The village is famous for his troglodyte fortress where from you would admire the sunset on the Cappadocian valleys. Uçhisar is reachable as mentioned in the rubric how to get there.
